Self-Healing Roads & Slabs are a crucial infrastructure puzzle piece and last week AlantisFiber™ was part of a large pour in Hope, British Columbia, Canada.

Pat McConnell, CEO & President of Atlantis Holdings Ltd says, "AtlantisFiber™ is very happy to announce that we’ve grown from proof of concept testing in both the lab and small scale concrete rehabilitation and repair projects to a larger scale pour that included chute and pump applications." McConnell continued with, "This parking lot slab is fitted with several high quality strain and humidity sensors which are directly wired to a solar powered control box that will send us crucial data points every 10 minutes for potentially years to come."

AtlantisFiber™ would like to thank additional third-party services from Metro Testing. They were used to give an unbiased opinion of our work for even greater transparency. What’s more, is that not only will these sensors record the actual properties of the pour itself, but they will capture strain rates of shrinkage, the loading of vehicles throughout the slab and the effects of longer term environmental impacts in this temperamental and challenging climate of the B.C. mountains.

"We’re thrilled with the results thus far and what this ultimately means for the future growth of our company. We’ll keep you posted as the data comes rolling in the days and weeks ahead." says McConnell.

AtlantisFiber™ offers cost-effective solutions to help enhance existing concrete with crackage and shrinkage control, effectively reducing overall cracking by 90% and reducing the build and lifespan-cost of a project. Our Fiber Blend also works to reduce the weight, to make the concrete earthquake-resistant, and be very climate tolerant. It all works because when the concrete tries to crack — which is common in an earthquake and extreme climate zones — the fibers intercept the crack and act like internal Band-Aids. Learn more about AtlantsFiber™here.

Congratulations! Glad to see that Atlantis was able to reach out to an Indigenous community in BC that was willing to join the Proof of Concept testing of the new fibre-reinforced concrete. This could be a game-changer for concrete and cement works in remote communities.
