EnviroGuard–100™ Polymeric Fiber Concrete Admixture

AtlantisFiber™ has developed Enviroguard–100, a Polymeric Fiber Concrete Admixture, which is an extracted blend of converted polymer fibers sourced from repurposed tire fiber-strands. This proprietary blend has been specifically developed to be used globally for a multitude of uses in concrete and mortar mixes

  • Shows significant success in mild to extreme climates
  • Forms a self-healing bond reducing structural cracking by 90%
  • Lower environmental cost with an 80% reduction of energy taken to produce traditional polymeric fibers

NexGuard™ – Seismic-Resistant Concrete Admixture

In addition to our EnviroGuard–100, our seismic blend, NexGuard™, is an Engineered Composite developed for fiber-reinforced concrete applications. NexGuard™can withstand high seismic activity. We have seen preliminary results that show a 10-millimeter-thick (0.4 inch) layer of our NexGuard™ is able to withstand extreme seismic events.

  • Environmentally friendly, net-zero admixture
  • Creates reinforced concrete mitigating earthquake damage
  • Blast and impact-resistant, with a very high energy absorption capacity

Applications
By Project & Industry

Roads & Infrastructure

When it comes to extreme-weather repair and maintenance of roads & infrastructure has always been a challenge with concrete. Using AtlantisFiber™ effectively reduces overall cracking by 90% resulting in a reduced overall build & lifespan-cost of a project.

Asphalt has dominated the parking lot market for years, for no better reason than it's inexpensive and easy to apply, however, we have 3rd-party data that shows the costs of concrete slabs and parking lots with AtlantisFiber™ have a reduced long-term cost and advantage.

Schools and Buildings

Many schools and commercial buildings all over are in need of seismic-retrofitting & repair, Our EDCC SeismicFiber™ blend is recognized as an effective seismic retrofit material for existing concrete buildings. Further, stricter seismic design guidelines now call for seismic upgrading.

The precast concrete industry
is at a crossroads — one-path leading to an uncertain future and the other to new seismic building techniques with ever-expanding horizons. Precast concrete in seismically active regions is now possible with our EDCC SeismicFiber™ blend.

Agriculture

Farm equipment and animal storage structures, walls, silos, irrigation channels, paving.

Ports & Airports

Runways, taxiways, aprons, seawalls, dock areas, packing and loading ramps.

Mining & Tunneling

Precast & shotcrete tunnel lining, shafts, slope stabilization, and sewer work.

Waterways

Dams, lock structures, channel linings, ditches, storm-water structures, etc.

"Fiber reinforced concrete can be used for a variety of applications. It is ideally suited for concrete applications that require protection from plastic and drying shrinkage, improved durability, increased service life and reduced construction costs. The use of fibers in concrete can reduce the total energy consumption of a construction project and will contribute to sustainable building practices." ~ Fiber Reinforced Concrete Association

Frequently
Asked Questions

How is AtlantisFiber's admix-fiber more energy efficient compared to other admixture products on the market?

AtlantisFiber™ offers an 80-90% reduction in energy consumption with our proprietary manufacturing process. Studies have been done assessing our fiber’s Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) factoring in, among other things, the energy consumption required to extract our fiber from tires vs. the energy required to manufacture virgin polymer from more conventional petroleum-based resins. These studies reveal very significant savings in energy and net GHG reduction.

Can AtlantisFiber's products be accredited towards LEED points or have an impact on embodied carbon calculations?

Yes. Our fiber and its impact on the built environment has been modelled on a typical 5-story concrete commercial/residential building requiring roughly 5,500 cubic meters of concrete. Our research shows an approximate 4% carbon offset when AtlantisFiber™ is incorporated as a complete substitute for virgin fiber.

How is AtlantisFiber™ able to provide such an attractive price point for our products?

By sourcing our fiber locally due to a geographically well-positioned number of facilities throughout North America, we are able to achieve savings in shipping and distribution and sell directly to our customers driving down costs considerably. We have also invested in cost-efficient manufacturing and processing technologies that afford us the ability to pass these savings down to those who benefit the most — our valued customers.

How is your fiber packaged and where do I find user information? (need to improve on this question)

Please see the Product Data Sheet. We typically sell our fiber in 2 lb biodegradable sacks designed to be incorporated directly into the mix trucks and 50lb or larger super-sacks for bulk orders (super sacks can hold up to roughly 500lbs of fiber).

What makes NexGuard™ different and better than other retrofit technologies?

Our NexGuard™ technology offers very easy and efficient placement of as little as ½” (1.27 centimetres) of NexGuard™ placed through normal wet shotcrete techniques.

Additionally, there is a significantly reduced level of formwork & labor required for NexGuard™. Projects can be accomplished in as little as 1/3rd the time as conventional applications. This happens as NexGuard™ incorporates a significant amount of fly ash, further reducing the carbon footprint of cement.

What makes our NexGuard™ so effective at minimizing the effects of seismic activity on unreinforced masonry walls (URM's)?

Our NexGuard™ blend of hybridized fiber is specifically designed to handle the extreme loads placed upon URM’s during low to severe seismic events.

This fiber matrix is extremely ductile and therefore able to withstand significant plastic deformation that is typical of an earthquake of as much as a magnitude 9+ on the Richter Scale.

Can NexGuard™ be used for other applications beyond seismic applications?

Yes. We recognize the massive need for concrete infrastructure rehabilitation throughout North America and have created various hybridized blends that will suit the needs of almost any application.

Not every job requires the extreme level of performance that our specific seismic blend requires and we are able to adjust this blend to fit the needs of the specific job.

What applications are the AtlantisFiber™ suite of products able to fulfill?

With the wide array of concrete projects, we have not yet found our limit to the application, however, here are a few more common ones:

  • Shrinkage & Crack Control
  • Slab On Grade
  • Precast Structures
  • Shotcrete

Additionally, both EnviroGuard–100 and SeismicFiber™ are designed to meet extreme climates and perform on the high-side of stringent requirements regarding building standards.

How soon can I get an order delivered?

Our fiber is sourced locally from a number of facilities throughout North America, and as such, from the time you place your order and depending on where you are, typical delivery time is several days to a week. Please contact sales to get a more accurate timeline.

Is there a minimum or maximum to buy?

Generally no, however, the more you buy the better the price. Please use this form to contact sales and get a quote.
