Asked Questions
AtlantisFiber™ offers an 80-90% reduction in energy consumption with our proprietary manufacturing process. Studies have been done assessing our fiber’s Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) factoring in, among other things, the energy consumption required to extract our fiber from tires vs. the energy required to manufacture virgin polymer from more conventional petroleum-based resins. These studies reveal very significant savings in energy and net GHG reduction.
Yes. Our fiber and its impact on the built environment has been modelled on a typical 5-story concrete commercial/residential building requiring roughly 5,500 cubic meters of concrete. Our research shows an approximate 4% carbon offset when AtlantisFiber™ is incorporated as a complete substitute for virgin fiber.
By sourcing our fiber locally due to a geographically well-positioned number of facilities throughout North America, we are able to achieve savings in shipping and distribution and sell directly to our customers driving down costs considerably. We have also invested in cost-efficient manufacturing and processing technologies that afford us the ability to pass these savings down to those who benefit the most — our valued customers.
Please see the Product Data Sheet. We typically sell our fiber in 2 lb biodegradable sacks designed to be incorporated directly into the mix trucks and 50lb or larger super-sacks for bulk orders (super sacks can hold up to roughly 500lbs of fiber).
Our NexGuard™ technology offers very easy and efficient placement of as little as ½” (1.27 centimetres) of NexGuard™ placed through normal wet shotcrete techniques.
Additionally, there is a significantly reduced level of formwork & labor required for NexGuard™. Projects can be accomplished in as little as 1/3rd the time as conventional applications. This happens as NexGuard™ incorporates a significant amount of fly ash, further reducing the carbon footprint of cement.
Our NexGuard™ blend of hybridized fiber is specifically designed to handle the extreme loads placed upon URM’s during low to severe seismic events.
This fiber matrix is extremely ductile and therefore able to withstand significant plastic deformation that is typical of an earthquake of as much as a magnitude 9+ on the Richter Scale.
Yes. We recognize the massive need for concrete infrastructure rehabilitation throughout North America and have created various hybridized blends that will suit the needs of almost any application.
Not every job requires the extreme level of performance that our specific seismic blend requires and we are able to adjust this blend to fit the needs of the specific job.
With the wide array of concrete projects, we have not yet found our limit to the application, however, here are a few more common ones:
- Shrinkage & Crack Control
- Slab On Grade
- Precast Structures
- Shotcrete
Additionally, both EnviroGuard–100 and SeismicFiber™ are designed to meet extreme climates and perform on the high-side of stringent requirements regarding building standards.
Our fiber is sourced locally from a number of facilities throughout North America, and as such, from the time you place your order and depending on where you are, typical delivery time is several days to a week. Please contact sales to get a more accurate timeline.
